peacocks refund card

I went into peacocks today, who were still open and trading. I tried to pay for my items using a refund card with credt on but they said they had gone into administration this morning and could not accept the card.

They also said any items purchased would not be refunded or exchanged, however the items in the shop were at full price! Except for a small sale rack from the January sales.

Am I able to get my money back does anyone know?

You will need to register with the administrators KPMG as a creditor. Most probably you will get pennies to the £1 on value on the card.

As for the items being full price that is unfortunately nothing that you can do with that - they probably won't reduce them until they are more sure of what is happening. You've had the warning that all sales are final and as such they are.

The administrators are apparently Richard Fleming, Chris Laverty, Ed Boyle and Joff Pope of KPMG -(see post below mine)

The official notice of administration isn't available yet on so I have got that from the news paper articles as to who was appointed.

Administrators are there to get as much money into the business as possible, not to accept gift/refund cards.

You've lost the cash, register with the administrators for perhaps 5p in the pound back... probably not worth it.

    Thanks. That wasn't up earlier.
  • They were trading as normal on the 17th, I rushed to spend my Christmas vouchers and as the adminstrators hadn't taken control of the company at that stage just in talks about doing so I was able to spend them.

This morning however the adminstrators took control of the Head Office and a lot of folks got a very unpleasent surprise turning up for work in Cardiff as their services are no longer needed. This means that all gift card holders are now unsecured creditors and although the name and stores may (hopefully for the thousands of staff awaiting their fate) survive they will be in different hands and those hands never saw the cash that was paid for the gift cards in the first place so won't be wanting to give folks goods for free . . .

For what it's worth & for those who care an online campaign has been started to try and save this store . . .
