Car hire Dispute bill

Hi, can anyone help!?...I need a legal letter reply template

I hired a car from arnold clark at christmas time there and upon handing it back was told they would be closed on the sunday i had paid until but to come back saturday with the car. I came back saturday at 4pm and they were closed, barriers down etc so i called them and got diverted through to a central line saying they were closed. Next day (sunday) i tried calling again and got same messgae, called again monday and got someone on the phone from a different branch saying they were closed until Tuesday, uponm Tuesday they were trying to charge me for 2 mkore days and i have since had a bill in for such however i strongly dispute this as i feel had i been told they were closing early i could have came in earlier with the car and have been stuck with it for additional days due to them being closed?

Alsio the deal was buy 2 days get 2 days free so if i was forced to pay this bill then they still owe me 2 more days?
please help?

Which branch did you return it to. Reason I ask is most of them close at 4pm on a Saturday, it clearly says so on their website, along with the closing times of all their branches.

If you took it back to a branch that closes later that 4pm, and found them closed, I don't see how they can charge you for them closing up early. If that is the case then you need to argue the point with them.

If they were closed on the Monday, do you mean that the Monday was Jan 2nd where most places would be closed ie in lieu of New Years Day
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Good point. Did you confirm their Christmas opening times?
  • I'd agree - if the branch shut at it's normal closing time and you got there after that then it's not really their fault you didn't check the times.

If they closed early then were those opening and closing times clearly posted anywhere? Reason I ask is because if there was a huge sign in their window with them on then, again, it might be hard to criticise. If they had a quick vote around the office at half 3 and decided to shut up shop early to get home then it might be different.

What confuses me, is if you paid for hire until Sunday and they asked you to bring it back Saturday then there should really be some leeway - you are losing a days hire after all!
