They'll be fine with you. They are just normal people doing their job fitting meters. Why would you want to choose a prepayment meter? If you are not in debt make sure you switch to a cheaper supplier ASAP.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0 -
The warrant has been granted to allow them access to fit the meter in the event that you are out or you refuse to allow them in, it will not be used for anything else, the wording on it is specific.
As you know they are coming and are actually welcoming the meter, I assume that you will let them get on with their work so there will be no reason for the warrant even to be mentioned.
These guys are just there to do the job that has been agreed on and will do it quickly and without any fuss, just make sure that they do not leave without explaining how things work and that you have emergency credit added to the meter and the key to go and top up.0 -
Thank you
I recently separated with an ex and he said he had been paying them however he had not so there is a debt. Can you still switch suppliers even with a debt and i have no idea who to switch too.

Unfortunately it is in my name, Could he be liable to pay half the debt tho if he was living here?

The debt will be taken off at so much per week so for every £10 you load onto the meter you will get perhaps £8.20 worth of electric, this is what you need to confirm with the fitter when he has finished and get him to show you how to access the readings on the meter take notes if unsure.0 -
Typical!!
I did ring Scottish Power and they said i need to advise them that i am a single parent and they would set the debt lower so hopefully fingers crossed. :-)
Really appreciate the advice.0 -

Even once the meter is installed it is not too late if you dont agree about the weekly charge, you can appeal it to SP and thy will review it and can adjust it 'down the wire' by means of information transfer via your payment key.
There is a Scottish Power rep that has access to these forum and if you have specific questions, you might like to PM him.0 -
