Paypal gift purchase advice

Options
..OK shoot me down for doing it this way but its a lesson learnt.

I made a purchse on another forum for a car part that when arrived is not the correct part.
I have tried to maintain contact with the seller but have had no response.
I paid using the Paypal gift facility as I wanted to pay the fees on it.
I understand that there is no protection when this is done however can I approach my card company for assistance - possibly citing that the goods received not as ordered and the seller not willing to make good on the deal?

Dont hold out much hope but just curious on approch to this..

Thanks as usual

No; because you said it was a gift.

You coul try small claims but I suspect that mig be throwing good money after bad. I thik I would be researching the guy as miuch as possible to see if you can find a chink. How much are talking here?

Other than that pay him a visit with the guys in black suits...;)

Your problem is you stated it was a gift when you sent the money if the CC provider was to go to PayPal they will tell themit was a gift too.

You could try going down the letter before action routeetc but is t worth it?

Chalk it u to experience and never send money as a gift.

Having said all that it might be worth annoying him a bit. I was done over by a builder years ago and called him any night I came home after midnight made no difference but I got a certain glow of satisfaction.

Yes they do, depending on how it was funded.

Hi, Sorry to bother you but could you explain this please? I've sent money and I'm sure I paid no fees (the money came straight from my paypal account) but someone sent me money and said they needed to pay fees. Why would that be?

    many thanks

Funded by a credit card incurs fees.
  • Or a debit card.
