Sky Remote Control help - Tesco Tv's

Options
Hello, this is my first post and it may be in the wrong place. I have spent the afternoon trying (and failing) to get my sky remote to work with a digilogic tv I got last year from Tescos. I have been in touch with Sky customer support, who, after going through all the instructions informed me that this brand of TV does not yet have a sky code for the remote control. Has anyone else had this problem? I've had a look on the net and could only find one code 0335 which lets me work the volume and switch the tv on and off but nothing else. Sky customer service tried 0065 and 0584. What I'm wondering about though is, if Tesco (one of the biggest retailers in the UK) is selling those big new TV's for hundreds of pounds why does the (probably) biggest satellite provider in the UK not have a code so that their handsets will work with the tv's. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi,

what else do you want it to do, it does vol and on/off.

Does it allow you to change channels?

Are you new to SKY, if so you need to press the Sky button first to use the Sky functions.
  • This tv is in a different room to the main box and is connected via a 'mouse'. I had another tv connected and was able to view sky, change sky channels, etc with my 2nd remote on this other tv. The Digilogic tv is a replacement tv for the old 2nd tv. I want to be able to use the 2nd remote on this new tv without having to go down to the 'main room' to change the sky channel. As I said the 2nd sky remote is able to change the volume control and the terrestrial channels on the new tv but won't let me access any sky options.

  • Hi if you look in the back of the sky manual you should find all the codes that they have try them all and see if one works.
my mum had this mouse with extra remote and hers worked fine.

Pls be nice to all MSer's

  • Did your mum have a Digilogic tv? I could try all the codes but it will take a long time to get from 0001 to 9999!

  • Hi, again,

it would appear that your second remote is working with your new telly if you can change channels, switch off etc.

Some folks just use the original tv remote to control tv and the SKY remote for Sky, just means more remotes lying about.

Have you tried your second remote on your first tv to see if it works the Sky functions on it?
  • Oops,

afterthought, have you tried your first remote to see if it works the Sky functions on your second tv, the Sky remotes should work on either tv because they are tuned into the SKY box and not the tvs.

Surely whether the remote works with your TV has nothing to do with operating the Skybox via the mouse. To operate the TV and switch to the channel you have allocated to Sky you need to press the TV button first. Then to operate the Skybox you need to press the Sky button first.
I think, as others have said, you have the TV function working correctly and installing a new TV should have no effect on the mouse & Skybox. I think you must be doing something wrong like not pressing the Sky button.
