Moving threads. I'm angry.

I was under the impression that there was a new ethos with regards to the Families/Relationships board.

The previous strict guidelines that stated threads should be financially related, were relaxed.

So when I start a thread to do with weight issues, why has it been moved to the Arms?!

I'm damned angry that there are weight loss threads, baby threads, pregnancy thread, 'I'm upset my husband is leaving me' threads and Lord knows what else, but my thread which many have posted on in a serious manner, has been moved to the Arms of all places. No doubt it and the people who posted on it will get ripped to shreds now by the usual idiots!

It's a different group of people who frequent the Arms. If I wanted to discuss my personal feelings with them, I'd have gone there in the first place.

Yeah yeah, I know. Don't put in the net what you don't want people to read, yadda yadda.

It's like going into a room in college where the 30+ people are and having a sensible discussion, then being told you need to go have the discussion in another room where the 18 year olds are.

I just wouldn't do that but you lot have given me no choice in the matter and have moved me regardless.

Thanks a bunch!

I have to say I was astonished that it had been moved.

    I wondered who you'd upset. ;)

Perhaps fat people NEED ripping apart by wolves...to encourage them to lose a bit of weight.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I also think that it was such a shame that this thread was moved and was an insult firstly to aliasojo and secondly to all the posters who opened up in a very intimate way.

It was on of very few threads on that board that was fully supportive of everyone, what I thought the ethos of this site is about.

I felt it was no more or less appropriate that many other threads on that board and at worst it should have been moved to the health part of the board but I would have thought that a bit of compassion would leave it where it was.

It just seems a bit mean spirited. It's my first negative experience with the "powers that be" in 6 years of posting, it certainly changes my outlook on the whole MSE thing.

don' know who the bg is on that board, but some bg's are a little overenthusiastic as if to prove to someone and inadvertantly spoil the spirit of the community

it is said that over watering kills plants

see if you could contact the forumteam and let them know - even if they go with the bg decision at least they would have a record of the frequently reported overenthu ones

I totally agree. If I'd realised it was going to end up in the Arms I'd never have posted on it. I definitely wont be going back to the thread to see how my confessions have been ripped to shreds and turned into a laughing matter.

It's not just about controlling who sees it though, it's about who replies to it. In the Families board people are going to see it as useful and helpful and get something out of it, maybe reply. In the Arms, it loses it's serious, helpful focus. It's more rough and tumble there so people wont read it with the same focus and viewpoint. It could have helped a lot of people, now it's just (probably) going to descend into 'look at the fatties making excuses'.

Are (fat) people generally their own worst enemy?

No, I'd say cream cakes, burgers and fizzy pop are the fatso's real adversaries.

Yup, seems fine to me, too. Not spiteful in any way and completely in tune with the other posts on the thread made before it was moved. [/SARCASM]
