Ah! If the property is unregistered, then ownership is established by the paper documents/conveyances, held usually by the owner, his solicitor or his mortgage lender. No archives.Unfortunately the Land Registry search doesn't show any details on file for this house. It does for mine so I can only presume that it is because it was sold before computer records. Are there any archives that can be accessed to find this info out?
Bit of detective work needed:
* neighbours
* letting agent
* local authority (long shot if tenant pays council tax)
* tenant himself
* letter addressed to 'The Owner' (tenant might open it though!)0 -
Maybe you could start by asking the agent to pass on a letter to the landlord?
Other than this, the public health route seems the most promising, although it would help if you could identify some problems like vermin.
Have you tried to discuss the problem with your neighbour or are you just speaking to the letting agent?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
