How much for an Economy 7 meter

Does anyone know the cost of getting an Economy 7 meter put in (we're with EDF if it makes any difference)?

thankyou,

A meter exchange is usually £50.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Oh, not so bad then! thank you

Do you have storage heaters as unless you do it's unlikely to be worth your while and if you do then the meter is normally put in at the same time.

  • I've just got storage heaters off ebay and will be having them installed at half term; EDF have just confirmed supply and installation of Economy 7 meter and it will be free!

Storage heaters are all that we can put in at the moment as we are living in very very damp property which is in the process of having remedial drainage sorted; eventually we will probably go for wood boiler (not on mains gas), but as the drainage includes ripping up the present floor I don't want to do anything permanent until we have damp sorted out, floors installed, new roof etc. We are on a limited budget and have to pay for it bit at a time....:(

Remember that you still have to connect the storage heaters up to a circuit/CU leading back to your E7 meter.
The meter change does not include any work necessary on the consumer's side of the meter.

  • I have just had a new consumer unit fitted; one that would be fit for an electric car (we almost got a trial one), do you think this would be fit for purpose? Yes i have just bought some storage heaters off ebay, and we have an electric emersion heater, and we usually get up at 6.00 am during the week.
