Cheap and reliable alternative to HPI check?

Hi moneysavers, i just came across this website: https://www.mycarcheck.com which provides a vehicle check for £10, instead of hpi's pricey £40.

I did a search on forums but couldn't find it mentioned before, so i thought it might be useful for you to know.

I also checked the company's validity. If you click on "about" page, you will see that the website is owned by the CDL group. This company is mentioned on DVLA's website:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/BuyingAndSellingAVehicle/AdviceOnBuyingAndSellingAVehicle/DG_10014436

(the last one if i'm correct)

So it looks like a very valid site indeed. I'll try it in the next few days. I'll let you know of their service once i get the check done.
Been there... done that...

I also saw this on Parkers website, I think. It sounds like a good deal to me provided that it does the same checks as HPI. Interested to hear how you get on mkoprulu.
  • I have also used http://www.autocheck.co.uk for a HPI check. Another good site is http://www.aacardatacheck.com/car-data-check/

I've done the check this morning and in a few seconds i had details about the car are as follows: (i've deleted the personal parts for obvious reasons)

VIN Check: The VIN you supplied XXX, matches the VIN we have on record for this vehicle.

    Make & Model: XXX
    Engine Size 1998cc
    Engine Number XXX
    First Registered 25 Apr XXX
    Former Keepers XXX
Last Keeper Change The last recorded change of keeper occurred on 30 Oct XXX
    Colour XXX
Colour changes There is no record of this registration being subject to a colour change.
Plate Transfer There is no record of this registration being involved in a plate transfer.
Scrapped There is no record of this registration being scrapped.
Exported There is no record of this registration being exported.
Stolen There is no record of this registration being stolen.
Insurance Write-off There is no record of this registration being written-off.

So, i'd rate this site 5 stars out of 5 for it's service, and highly recommend it.

This does not include a finance check - they charge an extra £30 for that
