I don't like the sound of the TFL heldgehog one but here is this fat lady's meatloaf:
first off line a 2lb loaf tin with rindless streaky bacon.
next, mix 1lb of extra lean mince with half a pound of pork sausagement and a small packet of made up sage and onion stuffing mix (I use paxo), some black pepper and a little bit of garlic salt. Once it is all mixed up pack it into the loaf tin and put some more streaky bacon on the top. Put the loaf tin into a roasting tin (otherwise it might bubble up and spill over into the oven) and cook on 180 Gas 5, for about an hour and a half. After this take it out of the oven and leave to rest for about twenty minutes before turning it out onto an oven proof plate. If the bacon is not crisp enough turn up the oven and put it back in uncovered for about 20 minutes until it is lovely and brown. I like this with baked potatoes with sour cream and chives and a big salad.Jane

Just a side line
I have a Brady Bunch cook book which has loads of different styles of Meatloaf made by Alice for the Brady's
I also have the Friends cook book which has Monica's Misery Meatloaf in it, which I alway make, it's really nice, my brother loves it cold in his sandwiches.
Basically I have been addicted to American Sitcoms from an early age. Sad but true.
If anyone want's these recipes pm me.

What's a 2lb loaf tin?
I've got two loaf tins - one is bigger than the other. The big one holds almost exactly 3 pints of water. That's the one I'd like to fill.
There are lots of tasty ideas here, and whilst I was initially thinking of the 2FL "hedgehog", the chicken livers have put me off a bit, and I'm more inclined to try and invent my own using a combination of the suggestions.
What I'm seeing here is:
Minced beef, pork and maybe sausage meat or something else.
Streaky bacon to wrap it in.
Some sort of filler (e.g. stuffing / bread / oatmeal).
Onions, maybe mushrooms too.
1-2 eggs to glue it all together.
Herbs & spices.
I like MadCowMan's idea of layering the meats, rather than just mixing them all together. I think I'd prefer an alternative to sausage meat (I'm not a huge fan of sausages), so I'm looking for suggestions to go with beef and pork.
I like the idea of sage and onion stuffing as the "filler", rather than oatmeal or bread. I reckon that would be great. I think I'll skip the mushrooms this time, and see what it's like without.
I will need help with herbs and spices, as that's an area I'm particularly rubbish at - I've no idea what goes well with what food. Suggestions & combinations welcome. I'll post a list of what I've got if required.
I haven't got a food processor, so it'll all have to be done by hand. I'll also need to know what quantity of meats I'll need to fill the 3 pint loaf tin.
Then I'll just need to work out what else to have with it...apart from mash and gravy.
Thoughts on any or all of the above would be most welcome. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Hi Mr BE :j  Great to have you back in the Old Style Kitchen!
If you were wanting to add hedgehog to your *hedgehog* the method for cooking goes like this: first catch your hedgehog. Wrap it in clay, and bake. When the clay is dried out, crack it off and the spines (and the parasites that live therin) will come away with it.
Obviously, no personal experience, but I do have methods for chub and haggis, too.
Try Lakeland to check on the sizes of your loaf tins.
