When you become a new tenant ,do you have to 'sign up or start an account' with the power provider before you switch to cheaper or is it possible to go straight to cheaper from the offset ?

The day your friend signs the lease, he/she is responsible for the Utility bills from the provider who presently supplies the property - The day they move in they must contact that provider, report their occupation and give them the meter readings
Once this is done they can move to any other provider they wish by starting the Switch process0
