By proper ID I understand a passport of an EU country.

Our country, our rules I'm afraid. I still don't understand why you don't pay it into your Barclays account.

To be honest I wouldn't take a cheque from a Dodgysailor without ID I'd easily recognise!:D

...that's what you do with a drunken sailor...just don't say 'hello' to the dodgy one I'd suggest. :o
  • Ok Ok I am not drunk... well not yet. Thanks for all your advice. I understand now a bit better and the reasons that you have given me are reasonable. I will go to Barclays but I just think that i will have to pay bank charges which is what I wanted to avoid.

You wont have bank charges unless it is a business account.

I have paid countless cheques into my Barclays account (and my HSBC account too for that matter) and have never been charged anything...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
