I guess that I should post this on the success thread! In the post today I received a letter from Barclaycard offering to settle all £12 charges going back to 2005 together with 8% interest!! I only went back to 2007!!
I had asked for a cheque but as the account was still open they said that they would credit my account with £278 !!!!
I send the initial letter requesting my charges on 28th December 2011!!!
Thank you so much MSE for all info and advice. I couldnt have done it without you.:j:j:j

Hi
I sent my Data Protection file request on 12th November 2011. They forwarded by file within 14 days. I sent my request for refund of £12 / £15 charges with 8% interest on 31st December 2011 and Barclaycard refunded my charges on my January 2012 statement. They went back to 2005 too!!
I used the templates from this site under credit card reclaiming.
HTH and doesnt get removed again:o

Success
Sent a letter to Barclaycard posted a week ago today asking for a refund of default charges going back to 2004.
Letter received today they have agreed to refund my charges from December 2005 so 6 years very pleased. £572 in total including interest.
Just waiting to see if Capital One and Citi card will do the same not expecting too much from these two. Citi wanted prof of I D before they would send copy statements. Also claiming PPI off these two long battle ahead me thinks.

hi
i tried to claim charges back from Egg and got turned down flat!
Egg is now barclaycard, after they brought them out, as anyone claimed back old egg charges from Barclaycard?
Thanks0 -

Barclaycard
Thankyou Barclaycard money in my account today.
Capital One have responded offering me £54 eeeeeeehhhh I don't think so. The 2nd letter to go off today. Citi cards have thanked me for my letter and are looking at my account.

Well Done :-)
I recently sent the PPI template to claim the PPI back and in it I also stated that I had constantly been going past the credit limit and getting the £12 charge because the PPI was not included in the minimum payment direct debit i had set up......I have not received any letters from Barclaycard but last month my account had a "REFUND LATE CHARGE" of nearly £500.
I didn't even ask for that money back but its there?!?!?! strange that I didn't even receive a letter from them. Anyone else had this?0 -

You posted a similar comment last month on a different thead
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=52550263&postcount=28004
But the refund was only £440 then.
Your post didn't make sense to me then, and it still doesn't make sense now.
The standard minimum repayment amount caclculated by barclaycard will have neen caculated as the highest of:
- 2.00% of the amount you owe them on the monthly statement
- £5.00 (or the entire amount if less than £5.00)
- interest since your last statement plus 0.10% of the remaining balance (after interest and charges)
Furthermore, if you have a direct debit set up to pay the minimum amount due, then you cannot incur late payment charges (unless your bank refuses the DD collection due to insufficient clearded funds being available); over credit limit fees perhaps, but not late payment fees.
If you were charged late payment fees, that would probably explain why they were returned ... but I don't think I would have left them to amount to £500 - I'd have challenged it on the first and every subsequent occassion.
Edit: If you see any transaction on your credit card statement that you do not recognise, contact the credit card company immediately.
