Why blow your money on a very avergae car just to buy new or really nearly new you'll not really get much out of it, most likely only a lighter bank balance, and you can get the newest shape astra from around an 09 plate which can save you some money. Also, why a diesel?0

Ive already got an 09 peugeot 207cc and need a change plus i need a diesel as I will be doing a lot more mileage in the near future0

Impressive that you've been a member here since 2006 but only posted once before this thread

Are you looking to buy a brand new car or would nearly new (second owner) be sufficient? Are you replacing the 09 Peugeot 207cc?0 -
Lol aye I know o well
Im looking for a new one really as the 100,000 mile warrenty interests me and that is only for the first reg owner been ringing about and looking around the web for a few weeks/months now but was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts, the peugoet is leased and will be going back in may0 -
If buying new then please don't pay full list. You should be able to get a good discount on a new one. There should be even better deals on a nearly new one. But check out the rear seat spce in the latest model. When the drivers seat is pushed all the way back there is no leg room at all. Only Douglas Bader could get comfortable with that amount of room.
Spec wise, the Sri has three power levels (110, 125 and 130bhp) with highest emissions of 119 g/km. Road tax is between £0 and £30 depending on whether or not you get the ecoflex stop/start or not.
The two litre manual is also 119 g/km.
Prices will be between £21145 and £22725 depending on engine.
Secondhand just looking at Network Q vehicles there are two under a year old 1.7CDTi SRi's with the 110bhp which are between £12500 and £13500. Shows how much can be saved."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

There are some offers here:
http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/deals/?cat=new&make=Vauxhall&mod=Astra
You could look around his site for other offers etc. others on here may be able to suggest brokers - they effectively negotiate among dealers across the UK to try and get the best price.
MSE used to have an article on car buying but I can't find it, not sure what's happened to it...
