Anyone bought from Dabs.com - new £2000 build pt2

Options
So i got some feedback about Novatech earlier, but seen the mobo £15 cheaper, yes not much less considering the £2000 build, but still.

Anyone bought from Dabs.com, how is their returns. Do they collect and return with the 28 days period?

Looked at their return policy doesnt mention what happens in those 28 days.

They do say that we should contact the manufacturer direct and warranty matter sorted with them. But i'd like to deal the retailer instead, like Novatech and Scan do.

Used Dabs.com pretty much since they started trading, and never had the slightest of trouble with them.

I bought a PC case from them, and it had a scratch so asked for a replacement. They collected it for free, and said there was no stock to replace my item with. No problem, because I managed to find it cheaper. :D

Dabs were fine last time I used them. Not had to return anything though.

    I take it you're doing a self-build?

Dabs is now owned by BT. I started using them in 1997, but now I only use them if I can't get what I need elsewhere. Last April I bought a couple of items including a dvd drive, which was faulty. They would not reply to my emails, so in the end I had to buy another elsewhere, as I couldn't expect the client to wait. It was only £16, some you loose........

Like many of these internet only sites,, fine if it goes well, but in my expereince over the past 15 years it has always been a problem when things go wrong - dabs really don't want you phone them.

    Have a look here: http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.dabs.com

Would I trust them with that sort of money? No way.
  • Never had any problems with them but only tend to use them if I can't get the goods anywhere else. It's more to do with me not wanting to increase BT's profits any more than they already are! I like ebuyer - no quibble when sending defective goods back, in fact quite painless too!

I have bought from them in the past but now won't touch them unless they are the only ones with an item in stock.
To return anything to them is a nightmare and to get any contact either on the phone or email is certainly an art. Anything to do with being owned by British Telecom?
The company I use these days is ebuyer, at Howden, who used to have a very poor reputation but over the last few years they've certainly vastly improved and I've found them to be good at resolving a now rare problem. Another company I've had decent service from and worth looking at is CCL near Bradford.

Yep, last build was all from Ebuyer, almost 5 years ago, its still a pretty solid machine but its time for an upgrade with the new AMD 7970 :D

Never knew Ebuyer had a bad rep, bought all my components for my current rig in 2007 and they were very good, RMAs went perfect, communication was top but they've seem to have lost their appeal, not stocking various high end products, out of stock or discontinued so many items that sell regularly at other retailers.

I'm buying few items from Amazon, few from Scan rest from Novatech or Dabs, lets see. Or neither if Scan or Overclockers get stock of the Asrock mobo im after.

I've been making my own PCs for years and use mostly ebuyer (returns never an issue), novatech (have a pick-up point nearby where I can collect and/or return) and CCL (when they are much cheaper. never had a problem with any of them. Overclockers have been good and I have managed a refund/replace there, but it was more hassle than the others.
  • When the stuff works and gets delivered on time they're all pretty much the same, apart from maybe price. It's when things go wrong that you quickly find out who's good and who's bad. I just had a bad experience with Dabs. Bought a new PC case to build a gaming rig. Took me a few days to finally get round to building the thing from all the components I'd bought from a range of suppliers. When I first powered it on I noticed on of the pre-fitted case fans wasn't spinning. I tried to RMA the fan to Dabs. They refused point blank and said I had to return the whole case for refund or replacement. They were blind to the fact that I would have to disassemble the PC, and then ship back the case as a large 15 kg package just to get a 400g fan worth £10 sorted out. Fortunately the case manufacturer knew how to look after their customer and they sent me a replacement fan next day without question.

    I'll never use Dabs again.

    Listening Dabs??

So even tho they are £15 cheaper, that £15 off isnt worth the potential trouble.

I'll just wait for OC then, confirmed they should have the mobos in by weeks end.
