Virgin/Ntl/Telewest whatever - still Cr*p!

On the day that Virgin proudly announced their first day as Virgin Media, my broadband went on the blink.
After doing the usual turn off set top box etc, phoned up customer services (now on freephone thank god) and was on hold for 70 minutes before someone answered. This someone after a bit of umming and ahing said he would be a minute (yeah right) and placed me on hold for ten minutes.
Not forgetting I was still there, he told me he was still trying to transfer me to the correct department (why broadband technical support wasn't the correct department I don't know). 30 minutes later got put through to someone who then said that they were going to transfer me to technical help, and would I mind. before I could say "Yes I do" I was promptly put on hold and transferred. 1 minute later, got an automated message telling me how awfully sorry it was that they were so busy, would I please call again later and then I was disconnected!
Called back next day and this time got through immediately. Spoke to someone who could not understand a word of english (or just refused to listen to what I was trying to say). 40 fruitless minutes later, was advised an engineer needed to come out (I won't even go into that part - tried to explain concept of "OK Book the appointment if it is inconvenient I will call back to rearrange" - that took 15 minutes to explain). Next day started having a fiddle with wires (no loose connections) and such, and just decided to type ntlworld into address box of explorer. lo and behold, internet is working again.
Just called to cancel the engineer (due out in 3 days) and was told there would be a £10 charge! Not likely. 20 minutes of arguing and one manager later, got a half-hearted apology and a "on this occasion we will not charge" promise.
As soon as I catch up on essays and assignments, there is going to be one long letter Virgin telling them exactly what I think of their "expert technical support".

The problem is, and I know that this is a bit cheeky given my rant, that I get landline, 1 meg broadband and my fave tv stations for £20 a month - no-one anywhere offers that!Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0
