Hi all. I went to Warrington La Senza to spend my gift card to find that the store has closed. After going on the website today, it now says La Senza has gone into administration. After a couple of rants on facebook, i found that a few shops are still open but are not accepting gift cards!! What do I do with my gift card now?!?!
Oh I did check and my partner who bought me the gift didnt use a credit card

The new company has not got the money that was used to purchase the gift card.
So if they accept the gift card, they're effectively giving their stock away.
Have a read of MSE's Administration Help article.
Talk to your credit card company about a chargeback.

Did you actually search for previous threads about this before posting?
No, you can't do anything about it apart from register with the administrators to perhaps receive pennies in the pound a few months down the line, perhaps nothing.
Yes, they can refuse gift cards. They're in administration, and they already have the cash you paid for the cards. They want more cash for the goods in the shop - if they gave you goods for your card that's money they could have from other customers in cash.
You've lost the money, essentially. Sorry to be so brutal, but 10 seconds of searching would bring up all the information you need to know using either the forum's search tool or Google.0 -
Technically yes, but suspect the time spent filling in proof of debt form, along with postage would outweigh any payments in the future.
When Forward Cellular went bust and I was owed about £280, it was a very short form to fill in (name, address, amount) and I eventually got about £180 (if I remember rightly).
I don't know if it's usually that easy or common to get more than half your money back, but if so, it's going to be worth a few minutes of your time even if you've only got a £10 voucher.0 -
What about if you bought the gift card from Tesco. Will you still not have a claim then as it was bought through an intermediary? Is it not Tesco who lose out??0
