Received payment into my bank acc,all ok to post?

Following an earlier post in the week re gum tree and an item of mine I have received payment for the item into my savings account today (fab recommendation from a fellow MSE)

So just checking that all is okay to post the item? Like they can't claim payment was sent in error or try and get the money back?

In my savings account they did title the payment with what they were paying for.

This is the 1st time I have received payment like this. Paypal was out of the q in terms of no seller protection and a postal order the buyer couldn't afford the extra £££ for. So bank transfer was the easiest way for both of us.

To be 100% safe post it the day after payment was received. It will be completely clear and cannot be recalled under any circumstances.

  • Thank you. I actually moved payment straight away from my savings account into my bank account.

But I was in no rush tonight to get to the post office in time, was going to wait until tomorrow anyway.

    Thanks again

Should I be worried that the person needs the item by the 23.01.12?

I emailed them just saying I'd post it tomorrow and hope it is with them by Fri or Sat.

They've replied saying thanks so much and hope it arrives in time as they need it by 23rd.

Probably stressing over nothing, but obviously nothing they can do re taking payment back or complaining if it doesn't arrive surely?

Oh and abrevation for transaction says 'BAC', mean anything drastic I should be worried about?

I'm sooo scared I have been scammed.

BACS stands for 'Banker's Automated Clearing Services'
  • Thanks, I've been looking into it all night, lol.

Can take 3 days to actually clear, so have emailed the person back saying I won't be able to post until Saturday now due to this.

Item is a wedding dress, which they only just informed me that they get married on Monday 23.01.12. So I have my suspicions now are them being eager to get it posted and then recall the money.

I have put the money back into my savings account and will wait to see if they do a recall, which you can with BAC until it clears.

Maybe it's a faster payment rather than traditional BACS ? I always thought that once a BACS showed in you account it couldn't be recalled. But I could be wrong.

I was under the impression a BACS payment could not be recalled as well.

Not sure I would be holding off posting that will cause problems.

I was under the impression that it can take 3 days to appear in your account, once it is there then you are fine to post. I get paid by BACS, normally it is sent on a Tues/Wed & clears my account the Friday.

I would imagine the buyer is going to be a little annoyed you are delaying posting.

I wish more people would use bank transfer, no nasty paypal fees, clears straight away and no chargeback either
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

AS a seller I offer it to everyone of my buyers, as a buyer though i wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
