OPC Ticket

Options
Hi everyone,

I recently got a ticket for parking in an Observices Parking Consultancy ltd (OPC) controlled area in Elephant and Castle. My friend and I were dropping off a tv for a mate who lives in a flat (with parking controlled by opc). It was 9.30pm at night when the ticket was given out for £100 (£50 if paid within 14 days).

I have read posts about OPC and private parking companies in general and it seems the best way is just to ignore them. However, on what grounds should I not pay the ticket? Because although getting a ticket at 9.30pm when dropping off a t.v is outrageous, I was wrongly parked in the area.

Any help would be great!

Thanks :)

Ask yourself on what grounds do I have to pay the charge? What did OPC lose? You were there legitimately delivering a large item!

    Ignore them.

On what grounds do you think you do owe the money?

If you get an unsolicited phishing email that looks like it may come from your Bank but you know that it does not, do you wonder whether you have the right to ignore & delete it? Does it worry you that they copy the Bank's logo and so they 'must' have some right to use it?

No, you see it as a scam and you just delete it.

The whole PPC 'industry' is a similar scam based on the gullibility of the British public thinking that because a piece of paper looks a bit like a parking ticket it must carry some weight. Just because it may have a BPA logo and they have convinced the DVLA to sell them registered keeper data (in spite of the criminal charges that OPC's top banana was found guilty of in 2011), does NOT make it a legit 'ticket'.

Just because the letters that follow will have debt collector letter-headings, will not mean that there is any 'debt' owed. There isn't, the letters are part of the con as well. And debt collectors are not bailiffs so they cannot send the boys round nor just apply for a CCJ as if by magic. They have zero authority to fine anyone.

A private PCN is a bogus PCN. It's not real. It's a scam. Ignore the whole letter-chain which you will be expecting once you have read the sticky info threads at the top of the forum. Just play snap with the letters that match our top thread. And watch the Watchdog video linked on another sticky, also by Crabman.

The only 'tickets' to take seriously are from Police, TFL or Council.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
