currently with npower. spend about £350 a year on gas and £250 on electric. used the energyhelpline and it gave Ebico (equidual) as the cheapest supplier.

just wondered if anyone has first hand experience of them and their reliability? are they a subsidiary of a larger company?

first utility (Smart as Standard v3 dual fuel) was the second in the list - difference between the two £14 a year.

They're only generally cheaper if you are a low user-which you would appear to be.
FU have a very poor reputation for admin and billing-search the board.

I'm with Ebico for my gas - no problems whatsoever :) When you were comparing prices, did you also check gas and electricity separately rather than just dual-fuel? For me it works out cheaper to have them with separate providers.

They are a small not for profit company, they use SSE for energy, customer services and billing.
Only usually competative for low users, check on a comparison site or three first.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

They are cheapest for me by almost 20%, which is why I recently switched to them. I am a low user.

You can pay any way you like without being penalised, which I like.....no more crazy variable direct debits.

    No problemo so far.
    ''apply within'' :)
  • i did the search again and it looks cheaper for me to have two different tariffs for gas and electric, but with the same provider!

I am with Ebico and have been for several years. I don't get a discount for paying by DD, but that also means that people who are on a key meter don't pay more, and I'm happy with that. They're competitive and they are no problem in terms of customer service.

I'm with Ebico, I used to switch supplier every few months to get the cashback but currently can't be arsed, so for the time being I've plumped for Ebico. Been with them nearly 12 months, never even needed to speak to them (or indeed SSE) yet, and seldom hear from them, which is how I like it. When I was with SSE direct (Swalec) I used to get all sorts of crap through the door.
