Sorn
Watching all the police camera TV shows, it doesn't seem like a lot of punishment for being stoped in a sorn car.
The chap the other day was stoped because his plate showed up as no insurance or tax. Turned out he had no MOT either. And all they did was take his car and he had to pay £150 to get it released.
Well that is not much of a loss, and almost makes it a risk worth taking.
Is that really all that can happen?

He will get prosecuted for not having insurance, at least £200 fine and 6 points on the licence."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
And get it insured, taxed and m.o.t.'d before it may be released.
Was it also stated whether the £150 was paid or not? If not then surely the car would be crushed?0 -

Depends on whether your a hard working tax payer or not, if so then you'd get screwed for a lot more.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I dont know why they bother showing these police shows, you see what they have done and think they will have the book thrown at them, but usually its a slap on the wrist. Surely this is giving other people ideas to what they can get away with, before the full force of the law bears down on them.0

Usually on these Police shows, the chav in a trackie driving a Saxo gets the boot thrown at them. But the middle aged suit in a new Mondeo gets a few words of advice.0

No. What you didn't get to see is the fine from DVLA, the summons to court for motoring offences, 9 points on his licence and a fine. Sometimes it can take up to a year before the court case and the programme can only include convictions so they may happen after the date its aired.0 -

If you have that sort of money where you could afford to pay £150 two or three times a week then go for it.
The reality is that before releasing it, the vehicle must be insured (for a minimum of one month), taxed, and then after release it would have to be MOTd or it'll get seized again.
Plus you'll get the points for no insurance and the fine on top for that too.
So yeah, sure, if that doesn't sound like much, go for it, take the chance of damaging my property and then having no cover to pay for it, thus forcing up my premiums to cover the uninsured driver scheme.

What actually happens is that the chances of getting caught are very low, you'll likely get away with it for at least a few years.
When they finally catch you and take away the car, just buy another £50 wreck with no MOT and carry on as before. It's like bangernomics only without the cost of complying with the law.0 -

This is my question, why did the guy on police camera show only get his car taken away? At the end they said he had to pay £150 fine to get his car back.Yes my precious, my monetary PRECIOUS metals, is what I want.0
