Northern Rock PPI

Hi I am new to this forum so forgive me if I seem a bit stupid. I have been reading posts and think I may have a claim to make but would value any advice given before I start off the process.

I took out a £15,000 loan with Northern Rock - funds went into my account in Feb 2006. I can't find any paperwork so am only going off information from old bank statements so don't know what, if any, PPI was charged.

My first payment was in Mar 06 for 342.84, then I paid 9 monthly payments of 307.84 - I then settled the loan with 13,924.04.

I am rubbish with interest calculations etc - but by my reckoning I paid a total of 17,037.44 for borrowing 15,000 over 10 months.

If I do challenge Northern Rock the only reference I can find is a 16 digit code from my bank statement which includes letters - can anyone with a Northern Rock loan tell me if this is my loan number or if it is just the last 7 digits?

Does it sound to anyone that I would have overpaid? Like others on here I was in full-time employment and would have been paid by work for long term sick.

Also....I paid off the balance by getting another loan (which I guess was a better rate but can't remember) - this was with Liverpool Victoria. Some time ago I received a cheque from them unprompted for misselling PPI to me. Can't remember the details but should I assume that by approaching me they paid all due or should I ask them to explain figures to me?

Looking forward to any advice that you can give me - thanks all :)
