Tiling a bathroom?????????

Hi there,
This seems a really daft question but here goes..... I have a small bathroom, roughly 3m x 3m. Now the toilet, bath and sink are already fitted and I fancy floor to ceiling tiles on all walls and tiles on the floor too. Is it ok to do the job with the fittings already there? Or would the tiler prefer if it was an empty room? Also NOT including materials is this an expensive job to get someone to do?

  • Im a tiler and I would charge around £200 including adhesive and grout as long as your walls were relatively flat. Most tilers will remove the sink and toilet systern because it takes 5-10 mins to do but it saves alot of time as you dont have to cut around the sink etc. This also helps because, things break. If you break your sink or toilet (which does happen) you dont have to find one the same shape to fit the gap in the tiles. you can just get a new sink etc and it will fit straight in. It also gives a better finish. The bath would stay in place as it is needed when tiling to ensure a proper seal to stop the water getting down the back. Silicon is ok but i would never tile a wall and then push the bath upto it.

Just ask your tiler and im sure you will find that they will do the extra work for you at no extra cost because it saves them time and effort.

    Hope this helps

thank you for your replies. Will try to get a tiler soon as it sounds quite straight forward (hopefully) But to be honest my walls aren't the flattest i've seen. I've already tiled the bathroom and kitchen but not floor to ceiling! Although I did a good job I don't want to push my luck!!
