Hi all,
My daughter was born in june, I informed tax credits in July, they added her to my claim there and then. I then had a letter off them in September asking for her birth certificate, I replied in writing and explained that I couldn't provide it at that time as child benefit had it. I heard nothing else.
On 30th November my payment was £80 short so I called tax credits helpline and they told me she had been removed from my claim because there was no proof she existed I was told they would send me an appeal form & advised me to appeal against their decision. They said £50 of the money they were stopping was because of money already paid to me.
I sent the appeal & her birth certificate 1st class recorded on 7th Dec.
I had a new award notice today which stated that she only qualifies from 3rd October, I phoned to query it & was told they only backdate up to 3 months.
Im confused by this as I informed them within 1 month, she was added to my claim then removed & even if they went from when they recieved her birth certificate that would only be 2 months.
Do I have any rights here?
Any advice would be great, many thanks in advance x

So they paid for your daughter up until 30th November ?
Then stopped and then backdated until October with daughter back on tax credits so they have overpaid you is that what your saying ?0 -
Hi Susann,
They were paying for her up until 24th November, then removed her from the claim & took the money they had paid me from June back. So I havent recieved anything for her technically.
Forgot to say they reduced my payments by £80 per week for 8 weeks running.
On my award notice it says she qualifies from 30th June till 30th June (1 day)
then further down it says she qualifies from 3rd October till 6th April (x days)
I hope thats a bit clearer
Thank you0
