Hi I just wondered if someone could please explain the difference between 10p and 25p shares please.
Are 25p shares worth more than 10p shares or are they all worth the same value according to the stock exchange?
Thanks in anticipation.

Nominal values that mean nothing.
Number of shares x current share price is usually the value of most interest.0 -
15p ?

My late Dad had some shares but we're not sure which still stand or which are obsolete, does anyone know who would be a good person to go through them with us, for example someone from the bank? Also how do dividends work? Does that mean you receive a small payment every month depending on how many shares you hold?0

why dont you list the names of the companies that appear on the share certificates - I am sure someone here will know if those companies probably exist.
Dividends are usually paid every 6 months but some companies pay dividends 4 times a year."How could I have been so mistaken as to trust the experts" - John F Kennedy 19620 -

I’m willing to go through this, just for ‘I’m interested’ purposes if you put a list somewhere💙💛 💔0 -

Absolutely. It's the shares with values of silly fractions - making something up e.g. 6 and 11 / 37ths pence per share - which look especially odd. Means they might have an interesting bit of history - in terms of mergers (and demergers) and takeovers.0 -
List the names or google them individually and find out the registrars/current compnay name. Unless the company went bust, they will be worth something.
Any shares too small to sell (ie only worht a few quid) can be donated to charity via Sharegift.0 -

.
Not if they own the same ones I do! Consequential upon a little splurge on the expert Penny Shares tips many years ago.
They've either all been consolidated to the point they're worthless. Or - such as the exciting tip on grass cutting machinery, have somehow morphed into Asian cinema chains. And equally worthless.
I keep them as a warning to myself to do what I'm good at - and let the Fund managers look after my investments. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

I would also like to point out that even though normally share price doesn't matter. It does in some cases.
For example, Berkshire Hathaway lets their share price rocket and do not do stock splits. This is to limit the number of trades. Not everyone can afford to buy a share for $116,950!
