Advice on website

Hi. im wanting to make a very basic website but have never done this before and am not that good on this sort of thing. Does anyone have any recommendations for a very cheap way of doing this? I would want to add pictures and text and be able to update it. But of possible, the one thats the easiest to use.

I thank you in advance for any helpful advice. (No unfriendly or unhelpful comments please)

Depends on what you want the site to do but if it's just posting stories and images then you could set up a free blog at blogger.com or wordpress (https://en.wordpress.com/signup/)
  • yep wordpress is great for free sites building, it can look like a real site, but if i was you i would take some wordpress online freelancer to do that for less money. you can edit that site by yourself afterwards.
  • You might also want to take a look at Tumblr - tumblr.com - it doesn't get much easier than this!

One more option for you that I forgot to put in my first post: Google sites - http://www.google.com/sites/
  • If you do your own wordpress website does it mean your website has to go live on the internet for the whole world to see while you are putting it together? Or would you be able to hide it until you are ready to launch it?
  • Try Moonfruit.com we did a wedding website for a family member in about 3 hours. I think we paid about £5 a month which included hosting and everything else needed.
  • Can recommend Weebly, I know Wordpress is good but I've yet to use it myself and have used Weebly, really easy to use, drag and drop system, quick and simple to get you going!

You can publish pages as you want them to be live. Wordpress has plenty of functionality so even using the templates (free or paid) you can easily make it very different site to other sites to make it unique.

Plenty of hosting available for well under £5 a month, pick up a .co.uk domain and away you go!!
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
