Selling Using Same Solicitor As Buyer

You asked for advice. It has unanimously been that you should avoid sharing a firm with your buyer. Whether it is against the 'rules', or the 'guidance', or whether only against those rules in certain circumstances, the advice is the same.
Best avoided.
However, you seem determined to convince (us?... yourself?) into believing there is no risk.
So go ahead.
I know that, and appreciate the advice and may need to rethink. However, whilst I can think of lots of examples of situations as a buyer for not wanting this situation, I cannot think of one as a seller, because the risk seems to be with the buyer in a property transaction. Their solicitor has to ask stuff, mine has to answer it. The only problem could be if a "conflict of interest" does arise and they cannot work on the case any more, but not sure what could come up for that really. I'm new to this.0 -
Fair enough. I just thought that, in a situation of buyer and seller using the same firm, one party would have the upper hand and that would be the seller, especially with a more senior solicitor.

We used the same solicitors when we purchased our house last year as the people who sold it. No problems at all. We didn't intentionally set out to use the same solicitors, it was the solicitors who informed us and said it wouldn't be a problem.0
