I have received a letter today inviting me to an Interview under caution from local council in regards to my Housing and Council tax benefit claim, the letter said they suspect i have more income than they are aware of? I called the number to ask for more info but they said they couldn't tell me over the phone I just had to attend the interview.
So I called the Benefits helpline (rather than the investigation number) and asked what the latest income they had down from me was? They said my salary was X and I said that i had called them in Septemebr 11 to inform them of my payrise to Y, they did not have this info on record so I presume this is what the investigation team are investigating me for. Grrrrrr
So I printed off all my payslips since my payrise and took them down to the benefits office this afternoon (and got a receipt) so that they had them and asked them to suspend my payments incase I owed them money back.
My question is: Do you think now that I have rectified the situation - as far as I can at present and am willing to pay back any over payment as soon as I can that they will not go ahead with the interview? It's the interview that i am worried about I just want to get it sorted ASAP so i can stop worrying?
Any advice greatfully received
