Can I take a bag of raw rice in my hand luggage within EU?

Hi,
My husband is currently working in Greece and staying with family. I am going to see him this weekend and we are having friends for dinner so he asked if I can bring a few things as they are so expensive / not available there.
Since I am travelling with a half empty suitcase, not a problem. But is it ok for me to take a bag of raw rice to him in my hand luggage or are there any import laws/restrictions?
His mum asked for Christmas crackers as they are cheap in the sale here however I know that these are not allowed in hand luggage or suitcase!

According to http://greece.visahq.co.uk/customs/ the only things that are prohibited food imports are;
Prohibited
• Meat and milk and any items thereof from non-EU countries with the exception of limited amounts from Andorra, Croatia, the Faeroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland and small amounts of specific products from other countries
• Protected species and products thereof as listed by the CITES (Washington Convention) for example ivory, tortoise shell, coral, reptile skin, wood from Amazonian forests.0 -
Thanks, I took it through as hand luggage along with a 150g sachet of curry paste and all was fine because the paste was listed in grams not ml
