NTL bought Virgin Mobile.
Virgin is just a brand, like a sweetwrapper, to wrap around the merged NTL/Telewest/Virgin Mobile companies.
The Virgin brand is on many products/companies but they are not controlled by Richard Branson.
"Last year’s £950m purchase of Branson’s Virgin Mobile, and the licensing of the Virgin name, gave NTL a chance to start again."
