    To Undecisive,

You have not been conned and don't worry about the fact you cannot find it on the internet anywhere either.

I had a Hoover Candy engineer come round a few weeks ago to checkout my machine and he too sold me a box of the Care & Protect powder sachets. I felt 'why not', same as you did and bought it for the same price £15.98.

Anyway since then Ive tried one in my machine and it does keep it smelling fresh and helps to keep the machine in good nick. Ive bought a box, from Candys customer service (on the phone) for one of my friends and they too think its good stuff. Just once a month for a year £15.98 ain't bad, cheaper than putting a Calgon in with every wash!

Candy said the stuff is available exclusively from them only. But saying that Ive found one website that sells it called Ransom Spares. With P&P the price is a bit more than what Candy charge. So keep using it, and Im sure by now you've had good results, i.e. a nice clean smelling machine.

    All the best,

Just a quick update on this product.
    The price is now £16.99
Bought 12mths supply today from the engineer as the heating element was badly scaled up after 18mths from new and had failed.
  • I had an engineer visit and took pity on him having to sell this stuff. We are in a soft water area and had never had problems with smell dirt or mould except in the washing machine powder tray, which this powder doesn't clean anyway.
The result was that 2 days after using the powder exactly as per instructions, there was a bad smell like wet dishcloths in the utility room. My wife tracked this to the washer drum. Needless to say I am in the dog house and this powder is jointly taking the blame with me.
Even after 2 further normal washes the smell is still there, I am going to try a 90 degree wash with powder to see if that cures it.
Has anybody experienced this or any good advice to offer?

By the way, I did the dishwasher at the same time with excellent results, just like the day it was fitted so all is not lost.
