My Dad is becoming a permenant resident in a care home. He is self funding as he has state and works pension, savings and assets above the limit. He gets no benefits at all.
Social Serivces say he will be eligible to some sort of attendance allowance. I cant think what this is called does anyone know?
SS said its worth £250 per month
It must be something that is not means tested.
Anyone any clues and also how do we go about applying or will it be social services that do apply for it on behalf of my Dad?

Excellent found it now. OMG this is advance form filling, 50 odd pages. I wonder who fills this in?“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0

You can but I suggest that you get the Social Worker, CAB or AgeUk to help you they have experience. Don;t mean to be rude but I take it your Father was fully assessed i.e. could not stay in home with carers coming round?0

OT classes him as being at very high risk of falling - he already had several falls before he ended up in hospital and then into temporary care.
He has been assessed by numerous people - physio, OT, SS etc. A care plan was being set up for him to go home as originally this was what he wanted, and to have carers 4 times a day but he decided that he wanted to stay permenatley in the home
He is 87“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I see, I'm just very supportive of staying in own home. However, seems he's more than happy, best of luck. One month to appeal benefit decision if refused.0

I tend to agree. Its a very long complicated story but in the end its his decision and wether I think its the right or wrong one is not relevent. Whatever decision he makes I have to respect it and just get on and do the best I can to sort all the details out
SS is assuming that he will get the allowance so maybe she fills in the forms and knows what trigger words to put in the right places.
I've not thought about what would happen if he got refused.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
