PPI Claim - refusal as company has new owners?

Hi all..

got my first response back from a ppi that was taken out but they state that i have 'addressed my complaint to the wrong people' as 'they did not own the company at the time of the purchase'
but the company name is the same and still the same company no etc?...

anyone know where i stand with this?

are they just fobbing me off?

any help is MUCH appreciated!

    Can you state which company ? You may have help if it was clear.
