OK, here goes the story. It starts with a divorce. You can tell this isn't going to end well already.
Anyway as I have 3 kids the entire house was awarded to the ex-wife, despite it not being bought by her, not putting any equity into it, and not contributing towards the mortgage on it. She also kept all the contents, and the main family car, which she transferred into her name, from mine, without me knowing, and promptly sold it.
As, you can imagine, this was a pretty turbulent time, and along with losing my job shortly afterwards, things were pretty ropey for quite a while.
It's fair to say it took a while to try to untangle my finances, and in the melee, I forgot about my credit card. My ex did not forward any of the bills to myself, until, of course it went to a debt recovery agency, then she was pretty sharpish to send them to me. This one I'll have to take on the chin, because it is ultimately my fault, however unintentional.
However, so weeks later I received a letter from another debt agency, requesting money for an unpaid loan that i didn't know existed!!
I got the CCA, which shows the loan was taken out in 2007 (i was still married then), in both our names, however my signature has been forged (by my ex), the debt agency, then wanted a crime reference for this, but as with the car situation, my signature again having been forged in order to sign it into her name, they (the police) weren't interested.
So, I would guess my credit rating is shot now, obviously I will check with the various agencies, but what if anything can I do to fix my rating. It would be nice to buy another house sometime, not that I can forseeably see when I could afford one.
Sorry for the long post, any advice would be gratefully received.

What do you mean by the police weren't interested? If your ex-wife fraudulently signed an application in your name then that is a crime and you need to pursue it further with the police.
If you aren't prepared to do that, then you need to get copies of all three credit reports, check that they are accurate then wait for the defaults to drop off your file (6 years). Not much else you can do other than use credit responsibly in the meantime.Total Debt Sept 2010 - £24,132.38 / Current - £0.00/ 100% paid

I dont know what your hoping for, I fear MrsB has it pretty spot on,unless you are going to pursue your ex's fraudulent behaviour with the police.
I hope things are geting better since the D now.

In which way would you like it to be sorted?
If your ex has forged your signature, without your permission/knowledge, then you need to pursue it with the police, otherwise the debts are yours, they have the proof, you signed for them...Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

You need to contact CIFAS and explain the situation http://www.cifas.org.uk/.
At the very least get protective registration.
They may however be able to advise you how to sort out the forged documents.
In the mean-time, you might also need to speak to the DVLA about the car?If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
gosh, might she carry on forging your signature too???0

If you are not reporting the fraud then there is not much that can be done.
I would also consider what other finance has been obtained, you mentioned you will be checking your credit report, maybe you will have some further surprises waiting.
At the end of the day if you do not report this there is little that you can argue, I understand why you would maybe not want to report this, children and all past history taken into consideration.
Did you not even wonder where the money your wife was spending or had originated from? I know somebody mentioned the DVLA but let's be clear the car has gone, the only thing you may do is get her sent down for a few years, I am sure this would only make things worse!
It sounds to me that all of the relationship problems/ break up, have caused this situation and without being the persons involved it is hard to say what should and should not have been done. I am sure she will argue a completely different point.
That said I agree with the above and your username is about right should you choose not to take formal action. But as said you will be fine again in 6 years :-) As you have a chance to start again this is good and I am sure you can get everything once again and this is probably the least of your worries right now.0 -

Spoke to the DVLA, they weren't interested either. There is no point going to the police, they will not give me a crime number as they regard it as a civil matter between two then married people.0 -
Ask the police for a copy of their complaints procedure. Surely they can't dismiss a crime because the perpetrator was married to the victim. Otherwise wouldn't this apply to other crimes?Spoke to the DVLA, they weren't interested either.
