no wifi or @ lights showing on my Sky modem

Help please.

We've had Sky broadband, with the same wireless router (little flat black box) for around 6 years now. I've had no problems up til now with it.

Yesterday when I started up the laptop it showed no connection to the internet, and our home Sky connection is not showing at all in the list of available connections (all the usual others, like my neighbours etc, are). I checked the modem, and on the left hand side there are 4 lights, on the right hand side there are 4 or 5 (sorry I'm doing this from memory at work as we have no internet at home). Only the power light is showing green on the left hand side of the modem, there are no lights at all showing for the wifi symbol or the @ symbol. All the lights on the right hand side of the modem are showing green.
I've switched the modem on and off, phoned Sky. They checked the line, no faults. They spent around 30 minutes with me on the phone, checking the filters, checking the phone socket, including resetting the modem, and plugging the modem straight into the phone line socket with a microfilter - no change. They are sending me new microfilters to try. I don't think thats going to solve my problem, as one of the microfilters (the one we used to plug the modem directly into the phone socket) is new, and it didn't make any difference. We have only one phone socket in the house.

Could it be the modem has broken? Would that explain the complete loss of connection, and it disappearing from the laptop as an available connection?

Unfortunately this simply shows how the script monkeys follow their script to the letter without actually using any logical reasoning to determine the fault. They should be sending you a new wireless router not new filters, which will not solve your problem!

All the lights on the right showing green suggests you have 4 ethernet cables plugged in , I guess thats not the case.
Did Sky ask you to do a factory reset on the modem as a last resort? You turn the modem on then use a pen or similar to press and hold the reset button for around 10 seconds. The internet light should go green, then flash orange, then show a solid green.
If non of this happens then as above looks like a dead modem.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

the lights on the right of the modem are all showing steady green, we only have one pc, which isn't plugged in now to the modem by the yellow cable (since yesterday).
yes, Sky asked me to do a factory reset, so I did, and the lights still haven't changed. There were no flashing lights, the green ones came back solid green, and no lights on the wifi or @ symbols.

it's a common term in techie circles, especially when attempting to update router firmware goes wrong and the router becomes useless, hence the term "it's bricked" :D
