thanks, this fits the bill perfectly, coincidentally my son had a brochure on the exact car as he too was looking and thought this could be the one. change of subject, i am on this site constantly in fact i rarely make a decision before checking out the relevant forum on here first. however for some reason have not really had much dealings with this particular forum and think i have been really missing out on some of the information like special deals etc. but was upset to read about the changes affecting my DLA i too have mine on the indefinite period bit, which obviously makes no difference. i can see how some changes could be made and think that IB could maybe one of such changes that perhaps could be reviewed annually as at present it seems to have no checks at all. perhaps people are still claiming IB when they have fully recovered i dont know but you can see how easy it would be to just carry on receiving it. what worries me though is that people like myself could get caught up in the crossfire, genuine cases where however much you would love to be able to go back to work and feel you were earning your keep but we just cant and it looks like we are going to feel even worse than we do already. ok time to jump off my soap box thanks for letting me vent and finding me a car
Incapacity benefit is already being changed to Employment Support Allowance which will mean your claim will be also reviewed with an emphasis on what you are able to do as opposed to what you cant do...also note DLA is shortly to end being replaced by PIP[personal independence payment]..this will mean you are to be reviewed for this also and depending upon your circumstances could see you losing any current entitlement to a mobility car..so you need be certain that you think you will pass the criteria for the new benefit before taking out another motability contract less you end up losing your entitlement.Loyal to those deserving!!.0 -

i need to change my car in a few months and need help with the next one as i was given wrong information on the one i have now. i was told my wheelchair would fit in the boot of the vauxhall astra i was considering buying, took the motability manager at his word and found out later in his words that he had not realised i didnt want to lay the two back seats down to do this!! my husband had only left a couple of months prior to this and had always taken over as far as these things were concerned so was not sure what i wanted. i was just grateful i got one. he always insisted on ones that had a payment in advance, even if only £295 which was the max we could afford. when i got the astra my 2 main priorties were it was automatic as my left leg developed severe arthritis when i hurt my back and it had to have nil PIA. so anyhow have managed to a fashion with my back seats down for my wheelchair but cant fit in any passengers or luggage. so getting to the point. if you drive a car that had nil PIA, is an automatic and fits a folded up wheelchair in the boot leaving the back seats in tact could you please let me know make and model as i am having a very hard time finding something with these very necessary criteria. so what do you drive?????
One needs to get the brochure and check dimensions beforehamd otherwise one has only one self to blame.
Secondly , i got a skoda fabia estate free. great small estate and great for disabled. they also do a roomster free,
my car had a deposit but go to the uk's biggest skoda dealer dm keith and ignore what motorbility state, as dm keith have clout and do their own thing0 -

I'm sorry but I don't agree, I know a lot about cars and would know what questions to ask but not everyone does and I'd expect the manager of a dealership to be a bit more honest. They are there to answer questions, and be truthful.
I also wouldn't trust the dimensions in a brochure, as they don't mention the shape of the boot which has more to do with whether a wheelchair fits or not. The best way is to try it out is in person.
I drive a Ford CMax Powershift but it did come with a hefty AP of £1595.Unite Disability Champion & Equality Rep0 -
aged 16 to 64 as at April 2013. 65 in May 2013? you miss out and have to claim PIP.
I have heard said that close to 50% of current DLA HRM claimants will lose their right to a Motability car under PIP.0 -
CTcelt1988 wrote: »Only 30% of HRM DLA claimants lease a car through Motability. So that is about 400,000 people. About 90,000 - 120,000 will either lose DLA completely or drop down to standard rate PIP. The figure could be higher or lower, we will have to wait and see.
In pure MSE terms, could it be that the 30% have got there heads out of the benefit blanket and realised that the money can be better utilised to provide transport rather than a brand new car???I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

my boyfriend's motability car is a vauxhall insignia estate, its a lovely car if a little big. And perfect for us as we can get his rugby chair and his day chair in the boot without having to put any seats down (although we have to take the wheels off both!). is great for him seeing as as well as his hand controls (it's an automatic) he had it lowered, has front and rear parking sensors and hes got bluetooth in there too so he doesn't even need to fuss with his phone in the car he can make and answer calls just using voice commands and a couple of buttons
Some of the rugby team have nice cars, one of the younger lads has the astra and gets along fine with it most of the time************************************

And I don't agree either, only a very trustworthy or foolish person would buy on brochure details.
Yes use them to create a short list or to rule out the non starters but go and sit in the thing/ try the boot.
I'm sorry about that comment as it kind of threows the thing back in the lap of the OP, who was simply too trusting.
The garage had a moral responsibility in this case as the WC didn't fit as it was stated, you would expect someone running a mobility franchise to be a little more understanding.:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
