Do Insurance Searches Leave a Credit Footprint

Does anyone know if any insurance companies leave a credit check footprint on your records with companies such as Experience?

I am thinking specifically that if you do an insurance broker search with say confused.com or Insures, will your ability to get mortgages or credit cards be hindered?

If anyone has any ifo on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Confused.com cetainly doesnt, my own experience is that very few of the companies leave a credit footprint for getting a quote online. The exceptions that I have come across are Royal and Sun Alliance and More Than. For a quotation the type of footprint they leave is not visible to other searches and they clearly tell you that they will be refering to a credit reference agency in the quote process. This has certainly been borne out when I have viewed my own credit file. Just make sure you read the small print and T&C's on the websites to make absolutely sure.
