Anyone know how to look into a websites credentials?

Hi I am looking into starting up a web based business and I would like to know how reliable global7.co.uk are? I have gone through around 15 pages of info on google, but to be honest I don't know what I am looking at or for? Complete computer lingo thicko here lol
Looking at other sites they have built/hosted for clients it looks exactly like the knid of thing I am after. I cant seem to find any reviews! Can anyone help? I also dont know ANY prices of anything - i just love the look of the sites they have built already and I frequntly use one which is what lead me there in the first place.

What I really want to know is are they reliable, is customer srevice good, those kind of things...and roughly how much they might charge me lol

You'll have to use google and see if any negative reviews come up for them, if you've got to page 15 without much issue I would say thats a good thing. As for price it won't be free, it could be anything from £50 to several thousand depending on your requirements.

I would suggest you list out exactly what you want, what you expect them to do etc and email several companies with your requirement to see what the average price is coming back as.

Well, they claim to be Global 7 Leisure Limited but then say they are a private individual rather than a company. Their domain is registered as being in Worksop, their company registered in Barnsley and their address on their website is Great Hucklow.. They have a plethera of different addresses, companies, telephone numbers etc. You could buy the accounts for any of the companies for £1 but given the web they've created it may not give a very telling picture.

On the flip side they've been going 6 years which isnt a bad length of time for someone with the overhead of a dozen companies.

OP you may have already considered this but just in case it is useful:

If you are building a web based business, as opposed to a hobby, it is necessary to keep control. To do so you need not only control of the content of your sites web pages and data but also the domain and the ability to move the business if the hosting organisation should get into difficulty.

As pitkin says you need to list your requirements. And a couple of questions you might ask yourself:

If I do not have my own domain is my business at risk?
If my hosts went belly up what would be my plan to maintain continuity of business?

It's not just about fancy content - but good luck :beer:
