Cerazette in short supply - plan ahead !!

Although a warning thought was more appropriate to here

Went to get my repeat prescription of cerazette and have really struggled to get it dispensed.

Apparently there is a limit on the amount being sent by the manufacturer at the min as they are in short supply:eek:

Managed to get 3 months worth thats it

So anyone whose prescription is running out be warned and get a new one early

  • Sorry to intrude on the thread, but microgynon 30 also short supply. But I work in a pharmacy and these drugs tend to come in and out of short supply pretty regularly so your pharmacy will definetly get some more in soon.
  • Pure coincidence, I've just been for my pill check and got 6 months cerazette without a problem - maybe it's a local issue? I'm in the NW. Hope this helps someone!

Might be worth checking with the supplier. I was told a couple of months ago that my anti depressant was in short supply and they were struggling to get hold of it, but when I emailed the supplier there was no problem at all.

On my thread about it people said that sometimes the middlemen between suppliers and pharmacies sell supplies abroad instead of here because they can get more money, not sure how true that is.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Very true unfortunatly and this is where the problem with short supplies arise. Distributors put a restricted supply on medicinee to try and stop this from happening, but then we as a pharmacy are then left short of stock!! Frustrating!
  • Also, during a restricted supply, pharmacies can order direct from the manufacturer rather than through their regular supplier. so should the situation arise that it is unavailable they SHOULD do this for you. hope that helps.
  • Well this post has just reinforced a decision me and OH have made very recently! I have been on Cerazette for the last 7years and normally this would have made me go "eeek" BUT as we decided to try for a baby a couple of weeks ago, it wont affect me at all!!!! Yay!!!! :j:j
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

I personally always make sure that I book my appointment with the nurse when I've got at least a month left - you keep hearing stories about cerazette going out of stock and I don't want to be without!
