People on a fixed tariff complaining

And just look at how they hand out these discounts, compared to when they rise. Every single rise last year was "Gas AND Electric" at the same time, yet the discount is Gas OR Electric. Not one single company is offering a discount on both, and which you get seems to be totally the luck of the draw. So it is not even a full 5% cut unless you happen to be all electric and dropped by random chance on the correct company. You could get nothing if you picked the wrong one.
This was mentioned on the radio earlier today. Apparently they will make announcements separately for gas and electricity to double the amount of "good news" they get to put out.
When they are raising prices they announce gas and electricity together so there is only one announcement of "bad news".0 -
I just hope all the buyers are now filling their boots with electricity and gas futures now the wholesale price is low.0

no not really as the price is still not as low as it was 12 months ago. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I'm with Scot power on a long fix, and they just lowered there's 5%. Not sure exactly which tariffs they lowered, but I bet behind the headline, not many get a 5% rate cut. Also, and this is the distasteful bit, the cuts don't come in until - guesse what - the end of feb, just as the major usage over the year is over. So a few will get cheaper elect in the low usage summer and, no doubt, come the Autumn, everyone will be looking at another 15% headline (meaning 30% real for many) increase.
Imv, anyone thinking of getting out of a fixed deal will regret it (if the fix is for a couple of years or more). We've got to pay rapidly increasing green costs, plus our bills will be loaded to pay for a new generation of Nuclear plants, which we can't escape building.
I take it most know the decc strategy on lowering our costs rely on prices doubling, and your consumption going down by just more than half. That's how Hulne is going to cut our bills! By doubling them!. Grab any fix going is my advice. You may pay more for a few months, but in a year's time most will see what a wise move a fix is, in my view.0 -
What about me?
I'm on a warm assist tariff and because my prices never increased last year they aren't going to be decreased this year.
I shall still be paying the same.
Not fair!0 -
I'm on a fixed price tariff with npower to April 2013 and I'm not complaining............because npower have said people on fixed price tariffs can move to another tariff without penalty during the next two months if they wish.0

I am fixed, there are a couple which are about £30 pa cheaper than mine but I am happy that I will not get an increase until mid 2013. I am not happy that I am paying 40% more than I was a year ago though0

I agree with the original post but ....
When with EON I was allowed to switch between fixed tariffs. They didn't mind and meant that I was always paying a premium to be fixed and try kept me for longer
I moved to EDF and they informed me I could do the same but then did a u-turn when I enquired the other day.

So would you rather you were affected by both the increase and the decrease? If so you would be paying about 10% more now than you are.( depending on which company you are with)
Sounds like somebody wants to have their cake and eat it too.0
