Towbar with parking sensors?

I have a Citroen C8 with parking sensors and need to fit a tow bar. Do I need a detachable tow bar or will an ordinary one do? The garage says I need a detachable one (they would - it's an extra £100!), but when I was out today I saw an identical car (with sensors) and an ordinary towbar - I nearly followed him home to ask!

my car has sensors and i have normal tow bar, i had to sign a disclaimer at the garage to say that i understood that the sensors may pick up the tow bar. But i have not had any problems with mine.0

If you can do what everybody else has managed for the last 100 years (i.e. reverse a car and not hit anything without the use of parking sensors) then I'd go for the cheap one and turn them off if there's a problem.
It may be possible to leave the outer sensors functional if there is a problem with the inner ones anyway. Can I help?0
