Hi guys,
I moved into my current 5 bedroom house with 4 more people in September 2011 and since then havent paid the gas and electricity bills. We transferred the energy accounts to us current tenants sometime in November. Today I got a letter from EDF energy asking for 180 quid for the bill. They say that it is based on an estimate and that I can call them to give them meter readings and get an accurate bill. As I have never paid bills before in any accommodation, I would like to know if 180 quid is cheap or expensive for a 5 bedroom house. I do not want to call them up and end up paying more!

Cheap....very cheap. What's the usage in kWh?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

For 3 months winter is pretty good, possibly too good, my winter quarter was £400. You need actual readings.0

Stop worrying about paying more, give them the readings, you will only pay more if you have used more.
If you only pay the £180 and its £220, you will still owe the other £40,make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Would you be students by any chance?
House old or new?
On the assumptions of: Old house - 5 students who use their bedrooms as living rooms to study - for gas and electricity I would be surprised if it was as low as £600 for 3 months0 -
2 of us are students, 2 part time and 1 full time worker. I think its a fairly new house. Our heating comes on from 6am till 10 am and 5pm till 11pm. We have an electric cooker and oven and we cook quite frequently. One shower is used water from the boiler and another is electric but is smaller in capacity than the boiler powered one. We have one fridge and one freezer.Other than that, we all use our own laptops and sometimes another guy's desktop. There's also an lcd tv in the living room.0

What does it say on the meter? Submit your readings to your supplier to generate a revised bill.0 -
I pay nearly £70 per month dual fuel (single person, tiny cottage). I think you got a good deal.0

In which case, your whole question is flawed. Look at the bill and meter, if it's estimated readings, submit actuals and get rebilled.
What we need are the actual total consumption figures in kWh for the billing period-not daily figures. In other words, the totals that you have been billed on.
Forget laptops and TV's-what costs is heating and hot water. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
what temp is the heating onDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
