OK..... I'm stuck.
I have burnt some .AVI files onto DVD using Nero on my home laptop.
The .AVI files Codecs are as follows.
Audio Codec: MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
Video Codec: Nero Video Decoder
Now..... I need to play the files on my works laptop using Windows Media Player.
The trouble is, WMP on my works laptop only plays the audio.
So, how in gods name do I get WMP to play the picture as well?
a) I don't really want to install Nero on my works laptop.
b) Is it possible to simply copy certain files/folders, whatever, containing codecs/whatever from my home laptop to my works laptop?
c) InterVideo Win DVD is pre-installed on works laptop but obviously also needs Codec?
d) Is all this Codec speak just me barking up the wrong tree?
Anybody got a solution?

Sounds like a codec issue, you could try downloading the k-lite codec pack and installing that. It fixes most of these type of issues. Just download the standard version from here.

No, you are bang on the money with the codec.
You have at least 2 options. 1] Find the Nero codec, and install it on the laptop, or 2] try VLC media player, which comes with it's own codecs, and will play pretty much anything.0 -

I've downloaded it and it comes up clean with AVG. No signs of adware or spyware after installing the codec pack either. If you prefer you can get it from
https://www.free-codecs.com or https://www.codecguide.com
EDIT: In fact on checking get it from one of the above, I think the site I originally said tries to get you to join.
