Playing Nero Encoded .AVI Files In Windows Media Player?

OK..... I'm stuck. :)

I have burnt some .AVI files onto DVD using Nero on my home laptop.
The .AVI files Codecs are as follows.
Audio Codec: MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
Video Codec: Nero Video Decoder

Now..... I need to play the files on my works laptop using Windows Media Player.

The trouble is, WMP on my works laptop only plays the audio. :(

So, how in gods name do I get WMP to play the picture as well?

a) I don't really want to install Nero on my works laptop.
b) Is it possible to simply copy certain files/folders, whatever, containing codecs/whatever from my home laptop to my works laptop?
c) InterVideo Win DVD is pre-installed on works laptop but obviously also needs Codec?
d) Is all this Codec speak just me barking up the wrong tree? :p

Anybody got a solution?
