HSBC Credit Card Warning

Hi,
I have just been kindly informed by HSBC that they have a nice new credit card computer system and that due to it kicking out spurious card numbers every so often my direct debit full balance payment of my HSBC card did no go through and that this has happened to quite a few custimers but there is nothing they can do until customers ring them to complain about being charge a small fortune in interest and fees.

So folks can I suggest anyone with a HSBC card has a good look through their statements and makes sure their direct debits have gone through correctly. I know HSBC card is fairly crap but Im having a mega financial sort out in the summer once I graduate and have a job sorted and will be ditching it for something better but until then I shall be making do with it.

Has anyone else had the same problem as me with direct debits not going through fully due to this new system?

Don't be too harsh on HSBC - their 100% graduate mortgage might come in handy for you!


I once you try the likes of Barclays you'll see that for a high street bank HSBC aren't all bad...especially the student accounts.

but their card is cr*p! When i went into hsbc and spoke to the manager to sort out my accounts, she even told me she thought is was poor: no cash back, high interest, no rewards etc....

They have treated me wonderfully for the last 6 years, im hoping for platinum banking!! PLATINUM CONNECT CARD hmmmmm!!!

HSBC s 100% mortgage is not good, dont fall for this as they have v large MIG and tie you in for along time.

Just be careful of this too (try Scottish Widows 100% graduate instead)

I have been a loyal HSBC customer for many years and recently they have caused me no end of grief (including cancelling a card for no reason) so I am not their biggest fan.

Well they were nice to me at Uni - don't worry, I'm not what you would call a loyal customer!

I have loads of accounts now...

I started with HSBC in college, moved to Barclays, Lloyds, Natwest and Abbey National (as it was then), now back with HSBC (and First Direct). Even though I thought hteir service was n't up to scratch, it is far superior to the other banks.
