Can i claim back charges?

I have seen the page on MSE regarding claiming back charges, and have seen you can only really do it if you're in financial hardship.
I was wondering if this means I a currently in financial hardship, or at the time the charges were applied?
I was in college getting EMA - £30 per week when I went overdrawn, by accident, on my Santander account. I didn't check my account balance before trying to take out money, so when it gave me my weekly £30 to get to college and pay my bills etc, I assumed my money had gone in to my bank. It hadn't gone in, and I think I went over drawn by £10. I didn't have an over draft facility on this bank. I was 19 at the time.
The bank kept putting charges on my account which ate in to my EMA payments - which is what I used to get to college, and to eat with as well as pay mobile phone bill etc. My Mum was on benefits and couldn't help me out financially, hence being awarded £30 per week.
Anyway I ended up with £150 of charges, which have all been paid back to them and the account was closed in 2007. Just wondering if I can claim any of them back.
I am not in financial hardship currently. I am a University Student, getting student loans, and I also have a part time job, earning just over £6.5k

You have a mobile phone. Why? if you are in financial hardship you wouldnt have a luxury item.Anyway I ended up with £150 of charges, which have all been paid back to them and the account was closed in 2007. Just wondering if I can claim any of them back.
So, no financial hardship then. It is your current position that is looked at. Not past.

I had the mobile phone before I was in financial hardship, and when I lost my job o2 wouldn't let me change down tariffs, or go on to PAYG. I needed the phone to ring jobs / incase I had interviews etc.SAVINGS: £63.86 // £3,0000

It is the sort of thing that gets looked at with financial hardship claims. They look for discretionary spending over the previous 6 months to see where you spending your money. That is fine. I don't like it. But hey ho we can't all reclaim everything back
I should count myself lucky that I managed to get the job I currently have, giving me more than enough money each month to live on.SAVINGS: £63.86 // £3,0000
