Chargeback for hotel deposit

Greetings fellow internet users
In December I stayed in a hotel in Canada booked via Hotwire.com, on arrival at the hotel an 'incidental deposit' of C$50 was taken from my travelex Cashpassport prepay Visa debit card.
We have still have not had this refunded despite having had an email from Hotwire saying that no incidental charges took place (i.e we didn't trash the room). Hotwire wont investigate this without a 'hotel receipt' which we where never given.
My only option looks like a chargeback, but ive never done this. Can I do a chargeback on a visa prepay for such a small amount? Will the fact that it is a deposit rather than a purchase of goods make any difference?
Oh, and dont stay in the Skyline Inn, Niagara falls
Cheers for any advice...

Have you tried to email the hotel asking for one?
Their website seems to be http://www.skylineinnniagarafalls.com/address-phone.php? and if you use that it give you an email address of reserve@niagarafallshotels.com
If the hotel took it on check in it might be that the hotel need to do the refund.0
