Recommended SEO Company

Hello everyone,

I'm just starting a web-design company with a friend of mine and having found a few SEO companies online, I was wondering if anybody could post any of their experiences to give us a helping hand in finding the right company for us.

There are obviously a hell of a lot to choose from and there's a big difference in prices, so knowing some peoples' experiences in advance would be a big help.

Many thanks! :j

  • There are many different services that SEOs offer (onsite optimisation, link building, keyword identification, copy writing etc etc) and many branch into wider SEM too. Are you looking for services for your new site/ company or looking for an SEO company to recommend to your clients? What sorts of services within the SEO/ SEM space are you looking for?

    Thanks for your reply!

The copywriting side of things we've got covered. Essentially, we're looking for somebody to do good keyword research for us, adjust elements of our site if neccessary to get a higher rank on Google and perhaps run cost-effective adwords campaigns for us.

It is just a case of exposing our website to as many people as possible.
  • The challenge you will have is that the smaller companies, which will be the more affordable, are most likely going to be offering web design services themselves and so have a conflict of interests in providing their services to you.

The larger agencies you can easily end up with a bill of £X0,000 for the initial analysis.

Tin Soldier Designs are a company that others seem to hold in high regard but I dont know if they'd assist designers, my former company wouldn't.

Thanks for the pointers. I hadn't actually thought about that.

What would you recommend I do in my position to start off with?

Read a lot, and learn how to do it yourself. Then you can sell that to your customers to.
  • Onsite SEO you really should be able to do, in terms of structuring the HTML/CSS outputs.SEM in general for onsite is something you should have a strong knowledge of as if your client is using narrow funnels for PPC campaigns etc your design and system must support these.

The other aspect of keyword research and general SEO strategy and that is where you need to spend a lot of time learning. Voluminous copywriting and link building is something you can outsource easily even as a web designer but you need to give direction on your approach etc. There are going to be a few SEO chaps that arent designers and you can potentially team up with them and offer to do cross recommendations etc, this is what we used to do, but it is challenging to find them and get them.

I do all my own SEO and the chaps that built my website on wordpress got my site listed on Google and ranked on the first page of Google within 3 days. I know that he applied to DMOZ to do the listing. I have internal and external links on my site and ensure that every blog post is fully SEO'd.

SEO is really something that you should be able to do yourselves because how can you offer you clients a well-rounded service because they are going to want the site that you build for them to be SEO'd.

A friend of mine uses these guys, I'm sure he mentioned they worked with a couple of web design companies, I think they're only small:
