    As a student I lived in Hackney and Mile End, they were both about the same price (Hackney - £350 and Mile End £390 - both all in with Mile End having the internet) Mile End was pretty good transport wise, the 25 to Oxford Circus goes from there pretty close to LSE so maybe somewhere a bit closer along that bus route would be good. Have a look at the bus routes/times map to see what areas are connected well in your time limit for commuting.
