DRO & Bailiffs
Options
Good morning, I am new to this board and would very much appreciate some help. I have been informed this morning by the CCCS that my partner and I fit the criteria for a DRO which I am very pleased about. We are just waiting for an email to confirm what we need to do next. Can anyone answer the following questions please:
How long does it usually take to put a DRO in place?
If Bailiffs are threatening a Levy of Distress (they want to come to the house this afternoon 'to discuss'), where do we stand? (This is for a council tax debt).
Can our council tax debt be included within the DRO?
Thank you so much in advance.

Bailiffs collecting council tax can only enter a property by peaceful means
This is through an open window unlocked door (keep your door locked at all times when you are home even if you are going to put the rubbish out lock the door behind you) or by invitation (you wont be inviting him in will you for any reason even if he tells you he is having a hart attack tell him sorry tough)
they can levy goods outside your home so if you have vehicle keep it well away from the house for the foreseeable futureI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites
If you are in any doubt please seek legal/expert advice help0 -
Many thanks hallowitch - you have reassured me that I'm doing the correct thing!0

Please please do not let a bailiff into your house. They are not entitled to come in unless you want them; they just want to add lots of lovely fees to the debt you already owe.
AS hallowitch asks, do you have car?
Keep the doors and windows locked and keep the bailiff out.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
