Help, pub problem!!

Hi, ive got a problem with going to the pub. im a young bloke aged 22 and as soon as it gets to friday night, i want to go out to the pub. im sure this is common for someone of my age, however it costs money and as i am currently unemployed i cannot afford to go out any more. this leaves me feeling frustrated and like im missing out on a good night. having recently split with my girlfriend of 8 months, i am wanting to go out more than ever to look for a new girlfriend. it all boils down to money. sorry i must sound a bit pathetic, but does anyone have any advice? Any advice much appreciated:beer:

How about getting your mates round for some (cheaper) drinks at home, maybe a dvd or a night on the X Box. Much cheaper than the p8ub, and you might find your mates are relieved at not having to shell out as wel
    l!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

  • At the risk of sounding old you don't need to waste £40 odd on alcohol, getting tanked up, probably having a kebab on the way home and suffering a hangover the following day to have a good time! If you seriously think you can only get a girlfriend this way then you need to alter your way of thinking - looking too hard can mean no luck at all. Special people turn up when you least expect it (married 10 years this year and still surprised!).

I would like to suggest that you stop looking and concentrate your efforts on other things, besides job hunting - perhaps a bit of charity work? Doesn't have to be standing on a corner shaking a tin, there's all sorts these days. and it is appreciated, gives you a sense of achievement and looks good on a cv.

Does that help at all? Hope so!
If you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
    I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome! :p

This isn't meant to sound sarcastic or anything but get a job. Any job?

What about working in a pub? You get a night out, get paid for it, and meet loads of drunk hotties!
  • hi thanks for the advise, pub work sounds ok, its just the hours of work that put me off

I've done it, and it's not really a problem, it really does feel like you're having a night out yourself. I started at 6pm, and finished around midnight, so the hours I'd have been out anyways. Might be worth a thought

  • I worked in a pub for nearly seven years - started there for a bit extra cash while at university and stayed there till went back to do a PGCE.

Met loads of people there, for some reason you get more attention behind the bar than just being a customer and I ended up marrying one of them - ten years on we're still together.

Another added bonus - it's like a night out, without the headache the next day!

I worked in a pub for many years and it was the best job I've ever had. The social scene is fantastic and the tips are nothing to cry down. Some nights you earn as much through tips as your paid. Give it a go. You'll get used to the hours.

But you are happy to stand at the other side of the bar for the same hours.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

If the pub was busy then you would find that the time passes quickly and you would get some tips, so more money.

And as SS said, all the drunken hotties.

Pub work hours are the same hours that you would be going to a pub, no difference really. I'm 28 (ok a teensy bit older) and don't drink at all any more, has saved me a fortune. If I do go out I have a soft drink when I am thirsty. Doesn't bother me at all. I remember where I went, what I did etc and don't get a headache. I used to work in pubs and nightclubs, dreaded it at first but it's like havig a social life and getting paid for it.

Oh and another one to add to the stories, I met my partner when he came into the bar I worked in before he went to work in the one he worked in (which he talked me into helping out at aswell) 9 years later and we have 2 little boys together & are still together.
One day I might be more organised...........
